ATTACK! day three

I'm still amusing myself by yelling "ATTACK! phase"  Today marks the half way point of attack, three days down, three to go.  Still bang on with the weight loss this morning, less dramatic than yesterday, but still a whole lb down!

I am still resisting eggs & ham but thought I would have some this morning.  However, when rootling about in the fridge I found the b/f's mackerel.  Mmmmm.  So I beat up two eggs, a tbs of quark and shredded some mackerel in. It was fab!  Eggs & quark can be quite rich so the mackerel lends a really nicely decisive smokey fishiness to the whole things which makes in extremely palatable.  Two thumbs firmly up for the this fish dish.

My oldest (as in longest duration) friend is doing a medical rotation about 5 mins down the road for me.  She sometimes comes over for lunch, but today I suggest we go for a walk instead.  We walked up the book market in Archway (where we both bought some secondhand books) and then we had a lovely walk up Archway and around Tuffnell Park and back, about an hour overall.  Really nice to get out on what was a nice day and have a wonder and chat, get a few things off my chest.   I'm seriously considering these walks as one of the best things to come out of this.  I haven't told her that I'm on the dukan, I think she might mildly disapprove, although I will tell her, just not yet.

After I walked her back to the surgery I went home and made my galette with quark and chives, topped off with smoked salmon, a squeeze of lemon and a dash of ground pepper.  So good.  Again the cat went mental about the smell of salmon so I gave him a little bit.  He is SO spoilt!

Also, look at my windowsill herb garden I'm cultivating.  Gosh herbs are so useful on the attack phase and I'm sure will continue to be useful for protein days.  I got the idea from a colleague of the b/f who lost over three stone on the dukan, she's Lebanese so very good at cooking delicious flavoursome, herbs meat dishes.

I beg your pardon, I never promised you a herb garden!

There are moments when I've had a bit off protein fatigue and I just want some toast and butter, or salad, or something.  I was having one of these moments so decided to make myself a 'treat worthy' diet coke.  All this meant was that I put it in a big and pretty glass, with lots of ice and a slice of lemon.  I know, simple things, but it seemed to work on my psyche that I was getting something special...

The b/f came home from work early as he wasn't feeling well (a cold!) so I made him hot buttered toast and tomato soup (agony!) and stationed him on the sofa to "recover"

The hot buttered toast was quite test of my nerve, so ate one of my snacked sized Dukanized tuna pies and did a little test drive on the prawn dish that I was planning to cook that night.  It worked well and with a few adjustments I fried the prawns with some garlic and chilli and then served them with a squeeze of lemon and load of coriander.  It was plate lickingly good and definitely something to re-feature on the protein menu again in future!

  • 1 1/2 tbs oatbran - Tick!
  • 30 minute walk - Tick! (although it was really an hour)
  • 2 litres of fluid - Tick! (1 pot of tea in the morning, 1 diet coke and half a litre of sparkling water in the evening)
  • Enjoyed food - Tick!
  • Coping with washing up pots & pans when I can't use oil - half tick (get them in some soapy water pronto!)

I had a dry mouth, which I hope means the ketosis is busy burning up my fat cells!! A few light headed moments, but otherwise doing well!

Fatty. Xx
